How to Choose a Web Development Company in Lebanon
Seven questions that separate serious web developers from expensive disappointments — including the ownership question most businesses forget to ask.
Hiring the wrong web developer costs more than money — it costs months, and often ends with a site you can't even take with you. Here are the seven checks that matter, from inside the industry.
1. Who owns the domain and the code?
The most important question, and the one nobody asks. Insist that the domain is registered in your name and that you receive full access to the site and its code. If the agency owns the domain, they own your business's address on the internet — and you'll rediscover this the day you try to leave.
2. Is the pricing written down?
Get the full price, what it includes, and the cost of future changes in writing before starting. The classic Lebanese-market trap is a low quote that grows: hosting "fees", update "fees", surprise "renewals". Transparent builders publish prices — ours are here.
3. How fast do they actually deliver?
A standard business website is days of work, not months. Long timelines usually mean your project is queued behind bigger clients. Ask for a committed delivery date and treat a vague answer as your answer.
4. Do their own sites load fast on a phone?
Open their portfolio on mobile data, not WiFi. If an agency's showcase sites take five seconds to load on a Lebanese connection, yours will too. Speed is a Google ranking factor and the first thing your customers feel.
5. Is SEO built in or an upsell?
Titles, descriptions, sitemaps, mobile structure, and clean code should be part of any professional build — not a separate invoice. Ask specifically: "will my site have unique titles per page and a sitemap submitted to Google?" Blank stares are data. (Here's what SEO should include.)
6. Can you update content without them?
Or if they handle updates — what does an update cost and how fast does it happen? A menu change shouldn't take two weeks and $50. Our maintenance service exists precisely because sites need to stay current.
7. Do they ask about your business or just your budget?
A serious builder asks what you sell, who your customers are, and what action the site should drive. If the first and only question is budget, you're buying a template with your logo on it.
The short version
Own your domain. Get prices in writing. Expect days, not months. Test their sites on mobile. SEO included, not extra.
